Newall - On the 21st inst. at Sandycroft, Swanlow Lane, Winsford, Edward Newall aged 78 years. Interment at Over parish Church, Saturday the 23rd at 2.30 p.m. - Will friends kindly accept this as the only infirmation.

In Loving Memory of Edward, beloved husband of Martha Newall of Sandycroft, Swanlow, who died August 21st 1924, aged 78 years. Whom I have loved long since and lost a while. Also the above named Martha Newall who died December 2nd 1932 aged 83 years.

This house was owned by Sam Hulse who resided in the area. He was a man of Independent means in his 60s, he was a one-time flatman or waterman, he owned at least eleven houses along Winsford Hill and Gravel Lane as well as the Shambles in Winsford.

This cottage was owned by Sam Hulse and in his will dated 1854, Samuel mentions his wife Hannah and several daughters and grandchildren each of whom were left the profits from the rents of his cottages. His eldest daughter, Ann, who had married her cousin Job Hulse, inherited her father's house and her children were to have the cottage occupied by Samuel Newall.

"Launch at Winsford." (Pheonix)
The vessel which was supposed to have been set on fire at the works of the executrix of the late George Deakin(Limited), Knights Grange Dockyard, Winsford has been launched during the last week. This fine steamer which suffered so severely at the fire alluded to was launched under the superintendance of Mr Edward Newall, the foreman.

"A Monster River Steamer for Winsford"
Messrs. George Deakin, Limited of Winsford, have commenced building at their dockyard at the Knights Grange Works, a new steamer which when completed, bids fair to revolutionise the style of craft on the river Weaver. The keel of the vessel is already laid from plans prepared by the foreman Mr E.Newall, and under whose care the work is intrusted.
