HENRY ‘Harry’ NAYLOR
Harry (as he was called by his friends) was a Black Smith at Orgreave Pit until the 1926 Strike when he became a Fish & Chip Shop Proprietor. His first shop was in Attercliffe, then Darnal and finally Manvers Road, Beighton. He was 86 years old when he died and is buried with his wife in Treeton.

GEORGE NAYLOR
George (Jud) was one of the children whose initials were inscribed on the porch of the Baptist Church in a Stone Laying Ceremony on Saturday July 7th, 1923.

Taken from 'Treeton Horticultural Show Silver Jubilee 1952 - 1977’
George Naylor
George is the son of the late Harry Naylor who joined the Society in the first year and won the potato Competition in 1954. George himself has been a member of the society for many years and was elected to the Committee in 1973.

He married his wife Gwen in 1939 (Gwen died in 1971) they have a daughter Dylis who is now married with two children and one son Derek. In his youth George was very fond of cycling, and as he tells us, during his courting and early married days, himself and Gwen were familiar sights riding tandem to all parts of Yorkshire and beyond. Living on his own a lot of George's time these days is taken up with the family chores, but he still loves his gardening when the opportunity arises. In addition his practical help for the Society has and still is invaluable.

George served as a committee member during the years 1973 - 1977. He also won the 'Member of the Year' award in 1969.
